Bit Loft se encuentra en la esquina de Av. Colón y la Calle Montenegro dentro del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de Guadalajara, en el barrio de Mexicaltzingo, una zona de las más tradicionales de la ciudad. Es un proyecto de departamentos diseñado para personas que dan prioridad a una ubicación céntrica en la ciudad y a tener amenidades públicas para el trabajo y el esparcimiento.

El proyecto se ubica en lo que fue la antigua fábrica de Mosaicos Hércules, donde se conserva y restaura el edificio con valor patrimonial ubicado en la calle Montenegro. La propuesta se integra al edificio histórico existente en el predio y con un lenguaje contemporáneo busca a través del contraste establecer un dialogo con la arquitectura tradicional de la ciudad.

Los vanos del edificio sobre su frente de la avenida Colón, donde se ubica el acceso principal, buscan a través de su verticalidad tener una relación con los vanos tradicionales pero con un ritmo diferente al existente en los edificios históricos. Sobre el edificio “histórico” se planta un volumen de material “crudo” donde a través de costillas de block se enfatiza la verticalidad de los vanos mencionados.

La planta baja, en sus dos frentes de calle, se destina al uso comercial con 4 locales; 39 departamentos se distribuyen entre los volúmenes que dan forma a la fachada y los que se generan en el espacio interior. Se proyecta un nivel de estacionamiento en semisótano y cuatro niveles de departamentos, buscando conservar una relación con los edificios circundantes.

Al ingresar al edificio se llega a un gran pasillo distribuidor donde se ubican las circulaciones verticales y horizontales. Todos los departamentos en el volumen interior son dúplex; en planta baja, la mitad de los departamentos tienen acceso desde este “patio”, y la otra mitad tienen acceso desde el cuarto nivel, lo que crea un espacio de triple altura sin circulaciones que genera privacidad y permite la entrada de aire y luz.

Las azoteas del edificio sobre la calle de Montenegro se adaptan como terrazas de los departamentos, gesto que se repite en las azoteas de los volúmenes interiores. En las azoteas sobre el volumen que voltea a Colón se encuentran las amenidades: coworking, gimnasio y área de juegos.

Bit Loft is located on the corner of Colon Avenue and Montenegro Street, in the Historic Center of the City of Guadalajara, in Mexicaltzingo neighborhood, a very traditional area of the city. It is an apartment project designed for people who prioritize a central location in the city and to have public amenities for work and recreation.

The project is located in the plot of the former Hercules Mosaic factory, where the building with heritage value located on Montenegro Street is preserved and restored. The proposal integrates the existing historical building with an extension that has a contemporary language that seeks, through contrast, to establish a dialogue with the traditional architecture of the city

The openings in the façade of the building on Colón Avenue, where the main access is located, seek, through its verticality, to have a relationship with the traditional windows but with a different rhythm to that existing in the historical buildings. On top of the historical part of the building is built a «raw» volume with ribs of cement bricks that emphasize the mentioned verticality.

The ground floor, on both street fronts, is intended for commercial use with 4 shops. 39 apartments are distributed between the volumes that give shape to the facade and those generated in the interior space. There is a parking level in a semi-basement, and the building has four floors of apartments, seeking to preserve a relationship with the height of the surrounding buildings.

When entering the building you reach a large patio where the vertical and horizontal circulations are located. All the apartments in the interior volume are duplex; on the ground floor, half of the apartments have access from this «patio», and the other half have access from the fourth level, which creates a triple-height space without circulations, giving privacy and allowing the flow of air and light
