Centro de Artes Escénicas de la U. de G.Performing Arts Center

El Centro de Artes Escénicas, CAE, es el primer complejo de su tipo en Guadalajara. Los 32,000 m2 proyectados albergan un extenso programa donde sobresalen 3 auditorios con características específicas que pretenden crear un ambiente íntimo y de contemplación para apreciar “Arte”. Frente a tan amplio programa, el proyecto ha optado por la “Concentración de Escenarios”, generando tres teatros funcionales y perfectamente independientes que operan de manera autónoma dentro de una eficiente “Maquina” común a todos; en base a esta premisa se lograron incorporar potenciales adicionales que permiten una gran diversidad de escenarios que pueden responder a las formas y expresiones contemporáneas de arte que exigen un avance a las tipologías tradicionales.

Adicionalmente a estos 3 auditorios proponemos un cuarto auditorio proyectado al aire libre para dar cabida a espectáculos alternativos que apoyen a jóvenes artistas que deseen expresarse y que cuenten con el espacio para hacerlo aprovechando la infraestructura creada.

La tecnología de la “Maquina Teatral” esta oculta y concentrada sobre los escenarios. La diversidad de efectos posibles es impresionante, y contaría con la infraestructura necesaria para presentaciones cada vez más sofisticadas. Es crucial dar a cada teatro su propia identidad, pero parece un desperdicio no concentrar todas estas tecnologías y su acomodo dentro de una masa critica única de potencial escénico. Además de que cada teatro ofrece una solución eficiente para sus propias necesidades; pueden combinarse para crear posibilidades escénicas completamente nuevas. Formalmente el contraste entre esta “Maquina Central” y la fuerza de los emocionantes envolventes de los teatros que están incrustados en una dependencia mutua, ofrece un emblema de nueva organización que trabaja de una manera fresca y que logra la expresión de un ícono inteligente. La ambición de este proyecto es crear tres teatros independientes; en un sentido preciso, económico y eficiente; en un diseño que ofrece posibilidades teatrales insospechadas como beneficio adicional.

The Performing Arts Center, CAE, is the first complex of its kind in Guadalajara. The 32.000 m2 house an extensive program with 3 auditoriums with specific characteristics that aim to create an intimate and contemplative space for the appreciation of «art». Having such a large program, the project has chosen the «Concentration of Stages», generating three functional and independent theaters that operate autonomously within an efficient «machine» common to all; based on this premise, the project was able to incorporate additional potential that allow a wide range of scenarios that can respond to the forms and expressions of contemporary art that require an improvement in traditional typologies.

In addition to these three auditoriums, a fourth outdoor auditorium is added, designed to accommodate alternative shows using the infrastructure created.

The technology of the «theater machine» is hidden and concentrated above the stages. The diversity of possible effects is impressive, and would have the appropriate infrastructure for increasingly sophisticated presentations. It is crucial to give each theater its own identity, but it seems a waste not to concentrate all these technologies and their arrangement within a single critical mass of potential scenic display. Besides that, every theater offers an efficient solution to their own needs, they can be combined to create entirely new scenic possibilities. Formally, the contrast between this «central machine» and the exciting skins of the theaters that are embedded in mutual dependence, offers a new organization that achieves the expression of a smart icon. The ambition of this project is to create three separate theaters; in a precise, economic and efficient sense, in a design that offers dramatic possibilities as a bonus.
