El proyecto surge con la intención de crear un foro cultural multidisciplinario en el que el Jazz es el principal exponente.

El edificio se sitúa en el malecón de Puerto Vallarta, construido sobre un local comercial existente para aprovechar la vista hacia el mar. El acceso al local es por la calle Morelos (perpendicular al malecón) a través de una gran puerta de madera que conduce a una escalera contenida en un espacio a doble altura con luz natural cenital que entra por un domo de cristal.

La fachada del edificio está construida con una celosía de concreto que permite la circulación del aire y el paso de la luz del exterior al interior en el día, y funciona como una gran caja de luz en la noche. En esta piel se crean vanos que enmarcan las vistas al exterior.

El edificio cuenta con una ligera estructura metálica que sostiene una cubierta de madera con instalaciones aparentes que permiten que el espacio cambie y se adapte a diferentes eventos, performances y conciertos.

El espacio principal, con un aforo de hasta cien comensales sentados, se conforma por tres elementos protagónicos: una gran barra en concreto y madera; la terraza cuyo acceso es a través de una gran ventana que enmarca el océano; y, al centro, un escenario fabricado con duelas de madera que se ve desde cualquier punto del espacio.

The project is born with the intention of creating a multidisciplinary cultural forum in which Jazz is the main exponent.

The building is located on Puerto Vallarta’s “Malecón” (boardwalk); it is built above an existing commercial building, giving the project a great ocean view. The access to The Jazz Foundation is on Morelos Street (perpendicular to “Malecón”) through a large wooden door that leads to a staircase that is contained in a double-height space full of natural light coming through a glass dome.

The building façade is constructed with a concrete lattice that allows the flow of air and lets light in from the outside during the day, and works as a large light box at night. Openings are created in the façade to frame exterior views.

The project is built with a light metal structure that holds the wooden roof, where the electrical and sound installations are visible, allowing the space to change and adapt to different events, performances and concerts.

The main space, with a capacity of up to a hundred seated guests, is conformed by three main elements: a large bar made with concrete and wood; a terrace whose access is through a large window that frames the ocean; and, in the middle, a stage which is made of wooden staves and can be seen from anywhere in the room.
